Why not brand SAP as good police



 
Good Police will never be seen through media most of the time.
The purpose of  media?


Media producers , both for profit and non profit have one intention when creating their media messages  to sell you something . The statement “ the media wants to sell you something “ really means the media wants to convince you of something . They want to convince you to buy one of two things, product and service or ideology. My problem is so much is said  through media that little is thought about by viewers and listeners which comes to  my discussion , so much is said about police brutality , so much is said about the ill treatment that the police give us but do police receive support recognition from the community ?   All I hear is the constant hammering of how brutal and corrupt police are and explicit pictures that don’t let our minds forget incidents where police show their wrath.
The problem
Media has labelled South African criminal cops as rot . According to a 2013 article by Julien Radyemeyer and Kak Winkinson the South African police service revealed recently that 1,448 serving police officer are convicted criminals among them are major generals , ten brigadiers ,21conels, ten majors ,43lieutant- colonels 163 captains ,84 lieutenanats and 7,6 warrant officers .  History has also showed police have been rocked by serious of crippling corruption scandals in recent years. In 2010 the national police commissioner Jakie Selebi was convicted of corruption and was sentenced to 15 years in prison. He was later released on medical grounds after serving just 229 days of his sentence. The  National Police Bheki Cele was suspended last year after allegations of unlawful property deals . The next one was Richard Mdluli , the head of police crime intelligence  faced  what the Pretoria based institute for Security Studies described as an “ astonishing array of allegations “ implicating Mduli and colleagues in murder , rape , influence peddling misusing slush funds and hiring relatives. This is what South African police are branded as .
What society does not take into consideration
Police have a huge responsibility they are expected to bring about law and order in very difficult situations ,they are the people who put their lives at risk as soon as they leave home everyday. Police are also often more in touch with extremely painful issues in the community.
 
Police are expected to deal with child abuse , rape , Police are also the ones who are called out to the scene of a murder or assault. Being witness to these horrific circumstances is incredibly stressful and can at times lead to feelings of depression and disillusionment . Those police officers who live in the areas in which they work may in fact be familiar with both the victims and perpetrators of crime. 
Police officers often feel that they are unable to speak to their families and friends about their experience while on duty this can result in feelings of isolation by police officers . These feelings are taken back to the home lives of police workers. Within their home lives of police officers feel misunderstood and maybe placed under further stress as a result of domestic responsibilities.
How to change image
One  out of ten police will still continue with these crimes , but I think it’s time to recognise the good deeds of good police I feel that every  Police station should recognise cops every month , station commanders should host braai’s where self confidence of police is boosted , engage them about life and self development courses .
·         If you are not already an active member of your CPF , contact the chairperson of the  committee and ask him/her  how you can support the local police. They might help you setup cop of the month award programme , the community should write cards to express their gratification.
 
·         Get in touch with a local CPF or Station Commissioner as outlined above and explore how you  best can best support professional policing.
 
·         It is important that the community must know about positive experiences about police possibly  in that community through social networks like twitter , face book  .
 
·         It also helps to make their lives easier by giving them tip offs to reassure them that the community  knows what they want in their community and how willing they are able to keep their community safe

The 21st century is about how one portrays themselves as far as ones personal growth in building a career that has been moulded by them. Writing this gave me self determination to what I wanted to do and it challenged me to be a limitless person in my career. The trick is working relentlessly and merging my capabilities with my vision.

In whatever field you find yourself in one needs to be an active force in their field, one needs to be innovative and make significant contribution in their field. One needs to constantly find what their role is, what they do best, something that no one is doing and find ways to change the direction of that field. One needs to invest meaning having persistence which is something one needs to keep on instilling because not every idea will be sold and become big. In fact any fruitful investment in any kind of relationship brings good results for example the Journey of lovers out of wedlock and finally getting into wedlock is an investment but what sustains that kind of relationship is the quality of communication, that’s where value is found.

What do you stand for?

It’s funny but my opinion would be what I take in as value and wisdom whether it’s in a voice or written it can either destroy me by putting negative thoughts or totally build me in a positive way even if it was negative criticism, the bible attests to this “A wise man is full of strength and a man of knowledge enhances his might”. To add to that Dr John Demartini a motivator said something that we should aspire to be is being true to ones vision and never giving up on it, remembering that the world around us reflects the world inside. He also said embrace the balance of support and the challenging pain and pleasure along pursuit of vision.  Everybody that believes in this mindset and their determined, silence should come to a halt because somebody is waiting to network with you. Having a clear and concise vision, objective and mission creates momentum in the course of creating what you stand for so never hold back but take a leap of faith of personal branding.

How to Market your personal brand through online?

The perks of technology, offers us the opportunity to network through varies social media’s but lately technology is mans worst enemy because of its efficiency and its deliberate ways of cutting down workers. The reality is it’s still going to continue, companies will be hiring individuals through search engines like Google.  Individuals that will be heading up media jobs will need to network like lunatics to thrive in their careers, I repeat if future bosses, colleagues, clients and customers are searching for you online and you are not showing up in the search results, you are already behind.

 

 

·         Individuals must uncover their personal  brand

·         Make your personal brand targeted

·         Create  communications plans

·         Nurture your network

Don't look for handouts from goverment , network!!!


Leaving a mark to a person’s well being and finances would be marked by the these factors

·         Social development

·         Spiritual development

·         Time  management

·         Networking and mentorship

 

These are some of  the factors I got from interviews  I posed on a social event that was organised by the Global Business Roundtable. The GBR  is a God –centred and inspired global business networking  initiative which was prompted by a deep desire to start a prayer meeting for people in business as well as to support for working  professionals in their various fields.

These factors  should be policies that business men should sign on as  majority of businessmen  have taken pride in just taking  and not taking on a Marxist method of conducting business in Africa. I also believe  South Africa has been free for 20 years but it has never reached  financial freedom and that has  been evident in townships where a large number of youth are unemployed .

Policies like Black Economic Empowerment ,  South  Africa’s affirmative action policies, free hand outs by our political parties have  produced  average expectations and thought in terms of waiting for government to make  life  comfortable for black people . These policies  are starting to show cracks as several black empowerment deals have collapsed. Political commentator , entrepreneur , Journalist and critic of the ruling African National Congress (ANC) , Moeletsi Mbeki   once said affirmative action policies championed by his brother  Thabo have entrenched the rich –poor divide in Africa’s biggest economy and could lead to an explosion of violence.

“BEE tells blacks you don’t have to build your own business , you don’t have to take risks , the whites will give you a job and shares in their company he said” I blame the ANC for buying into this story that instead of blacks working hard .... they should be given a free ride.”

Problems that are occurring with black empowerment has encouraged corruption with lawmakers reportedly rigging tenders to benefit associates .  Moletsi says white business oligarchs are complicit because they use the policy to keep a few members of the black elite happy while still dominating the economy 15 years after the fall apartheid.

Mkeki said that unless South Africa axes the policy in favour of a broader skills development drive , South Africa’s underclass , crammed into vast settlement of rickety shacks with no water or electricity , will balloon and eventually turn on the elite.

But programmes like the Business Roundtable is what government should be investing on as it stands a chance to make youth think differently . Why should youth struggle if theres people that are already making it as far as wealth, people who made dreams come true in different fields , most importantly people that came from the same background they did .

The Global Business Roundtable believes business cannot leave the issues of right to health , right to education , right to development and rights fundamental to democracy for its communities or government alone. The absence of these rights creates voids , weakens the foundation of business and makes it unsustainable. Business has to take a proactive role in ensuring and facilitating the access to those rights. This is no longer a choice but a business imperative.

The Global Business Roundtable was also formed  under guidance of spirituality  , which is what youth has lost hence there is hopelessness  in a lot of youngsters.  God is believed to be the only key to open doors in any young man’s or women’s life that’s where life begins .Hard work and commitment lets you  walk in his footsteps because he was known as an action man.

The organisations plans to emphasize the importance of this movement in schools , Universities  where heads will meet to educate more students  about the organisations so that it builds an unstoppable career paths with knowledge .

The chairmen of the GBR said “success depends on the people you know”. So why wait to be a statistic of unemployment , why wait a report recently showed that more than 50% of young South African between age 15 -24 are unemployed , at the same time  the rising cost of higher education has left a generation with unplayable debt and little chance of finding a job.
